The General Secretariat of the National Population Council was established by Prime Minister Decision No. 2 of 1993 as a technical, financial and administrative body for the Council to monitor, evaluate and coordinate population projects in governmental and non-governmental executive agencies. It also follows up on the implementation of the National Population Policy and the Population Action Programme. The Secretariat seeks to achieve the population goals and objectives contained in the National Population Policy through the programs and interventions contained in the Population Action Program, which are as follows: – Laying the technical foundations and developing the institutional, legislative and media structure to be consistent with population goals and the procedures for achieving them. -Identifying the necessary means to achieve the maximum degree of coordination and integration between population projects and activities. -Developing and developing population information systems. -Developing technical and administrative skills and knowledge related to population and following up on population changes and developments accompanying the stages of implementing the National Population Policy. The Secretary-General, appointed by presidential decree and with the rank of Deputy Minister, also follows up on the implementation of that technical and administrative body that he heads. The Assistant Secretary-General, appointed by presidential decree and with the rank of undersecretary, and in his capacity as the second official in the General Secretariat of the National Population Council, also follows up on the implementation of the tasks of the General Secretariat and deputizes the Secretary-General during his absence. He also undertakes direct supervision of setting time plans for activities and following up on their implementation with public administrations. The General Secretariat of the National Population Council consists of six general departments, five of which are technical and the other financial and administrative affairs. These departments briefly carry out the following tasks: 1- The General Administration of Planning and Resource Development: One of its duties is to prepare population plans, programs and projects at the central and local levels. It also estimates the material and human needs to implement annual programs and near- and long-term plans and works with the relevant authorities in developing population plans and programs and including them within the economic and social plans and programmes. .
